Established for over 50 years, Perkins is synonymous with being the 'goldstandard' in hand-held applanation tonometers. The Perkins Mk3 handheld applanation tonometer provides the same proven accuracy as other clinically-trusted Haag-Streit manufactured tonometers. Clement Clarke originally developed the popular Perkins tonometer during the 1970s. Over time, it has been updated and improved, creating an ergonomic design, as well as giving the instrument a longer-lasting battery and enhanced internal LED illumination. It is compatible with the Tonosafe disposable tonometer prism, which is recognised as the ideal solution for reducing the risk of cross-infection. Portable : The hand-held Mk3 is comfortable to hold and well-balanced. It has been specifically designed to examine patients who have often been difficult to assess by traditional applanation tonometry methods. These include; bed-ridden, wheelchair bound, paediatric and community-based patients.

Built-in LED illumination : The innovative built-in LED illumination produces an enhanced image of the tonometer mires, permitting use regardless of ambient lighting conditions. The LED source uses less energy and increases the operating times achieved from the integrated rechargeable battery, as well as producing lower operating temperatures, giving greater comfort to both the operator and the patient.

Use disposable or reusable prisms : Like previous Perkins and Goldmann tonometers, the Perkins Mk3 is compatible with Tonosafe disposable prisms, so there is no need to disinfect or sterilise prisms when using outside the traditional clinic environment. In addition, the Perkins Mk3 is compatible with reusable Goldmann tonometer prisms. The new easy-to-use 'Tonogrip' prism holder allows for straightforward placement of both sterilised reusable prisms and Tonosafe disposable prisms.

Goldmann-compatible : The Perkins Mk3 tonometer has the unique ability to provide applanation tonometry readings that correlate strongly with the Goldmann tonometer, even with patients in a supine position.
